What is lip micropigmentation and what does the result look like?

Lip micropigmentation (lip blush or lip liner) is a semi-permanent technique that adds definition, symmetry and restores colour to your lips. The result is a subtly made-up, natural and long-lasting look — it does not replace lipstick.

How long does lip micropigmentation last?

Lip micropigmentation lasts approximately 1-2 years. Lips absorb pigment differently from brows, as they are a more vascularised and moist area, which influences pigment retention. This is why the touch-up session at 4-6 weeks is essential for a uniform and lasting result.

What does healing look like after lip micropigmentation?

The first 3-5 days the lips may be slightly swollen and the colour may appear much more intense. Gradually the skin exfoliates and the colour settles to the desired final shade. Avoid licking your lips, hot or spicy food and sun exposure in the first weeks. Apply balm to keep the area moisturised.

Can I change my lip shape with micropigmentation?

Yes, I can lightly correct asymmetries and create the impression of fuller or more defined lips. However, the technique can only be used for minor shape corrections — it cannot significantly enlarge lips. We'll discuss at the consultation what is realistically achievable for you.

Is the permanent makeup procedure painful?

No, micropigmentation does not have to be a painful procedure. I apply a topical anaesthetic cream during the procedure to ensure maximum comfort. Most clients describe the sensation as a light vibration or minimal touch.

Can I get micropigmentation if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

I do not recommend micropigmentation procedures during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Hormones can influence pigment retention, and caution regarding substances applied to the skin is important during this period.

Are there contraindications to micropigmentation?

Yes. Micropigmentation is not recommended for people with uncontrolled diabetes, active autoimmune conditions, coagulation disorders, allergies to pigments or metals, active infections on the treatment area, or those on certain medications. We'll discuss at the consultation.
